Peter and I went to visit Tim in New Orleans!!

Tim's Americore group is cooking at an abandoned middle school that is now dormitory facilities for volunteers who come to New Orleans to work.

We went on a tour in a building where they store the Mardi Gras floats. These floats were huge!!

The Canal Street Cable Car had just started operating again, and we got to ride on it.

On Sunday Peter and I went on a "Swamp Tour".

Looks like Avery tried a little bit of everything!

We headed out for a walk after we ate. This was all of us minus Avery who was hiding. Rory is sleeping inside of Kris's jacket.

Hugues came on Friday, and we had a "left-over" Thanksgiving dinner for him.

I was letting some rolls rise on the radiator, and I guess Jake thought they looked pretty comfortable. The rolls were a little flattened, but everybody still ate them.

Frances and Robert visited Freeman at his school in Connecticut.

Carol wanted a pumpkin pie for her Halloween birthday, and Avery helped her blow out the candles.

I cleaned out the Barn Palace closets this summer and found Tim's first pair of shoes!!

My brother David and his wife Susan visited us this weekend.

They helped us pick the last of the apple trees...

The foliage was absolutely gorgeous this weekend! This tree is at the edge of the orchard.

We were invited to a wedding on Saturday, October 6th.

Emily Hines from the apple farm "down the road" got married, and the reception was under a tent right next to their orchards. I bet when they were planning this wedding, they weren't counting on it being too hot! It was still over 70 degrees after nine at night..

We lost Bart today....a.k.a. "The Bird"

His best trick was mimicking our whistles, but he was happiest when Peter was feeding him taco chips. We inherited him from Peter's mother when she died in 1998. She had already had him for several years. He really only slowed down about a week ago. It was hard watching him decline...........

We have some wild turkeys living in the orchards, and Jake does not like them to come into his backyard!
