Hawaii Day 8

We flew to Kauai this day. As we were having our last breakfast in Maui, we were entertained by the swans. This first picture is a view of our breakfast place....

The Grand Hyatt of Kauai........

This was our view from our room......

...looking into the front lobby.

This was a salt water lagoon. This hotel had five and a half acres of swimming pools.

There were birds in all the hotel lobbies.

We found the beach right away!

There was a beautiful beach just off the hotel grounds......

I managed to just catch this person jumping off.....

Here are a couple of beach critters......

Hawaii Day 7

We left early in the morning to go snorkeling. This is a sunrise picture from the boat launch area.

Our boat took us out to Molokini to snorkel.

Ken decided to catch a few more winks........

Even though the water was about 70 degrees, they recommended that we wear wet suits.

Humpbacked whales migrate to Hawaii between December and March.

We saw pods of whales every day playing off shore....

An afternoon walk on the beach.........

This made me nervous to see these kids buried like this, but they seemed to be having a good time.

At night we attended a Luau...

This was the digging up and unveiling of the traditional smoked pig.
There was lots of food.......

...and of course, the Hula dancers for after dinner entertainment.

Hawaii Day 6

Linda and I decided to do a day long tour...."The Road to Hana". Ken choose to get driven back up to the top of the Mt. Haleakala Crater and bicycle down. He actually ended up higher than we were the other day.

These are some of the spots we stopped at on our tour.

Monhegan views.........

...but with lava instead of granite.

I didn't realize that Charles Lindbergh was buried on Maui.

This is the road to the Palapala Hoomau Congregational Church where he is buried.

At Hana were the "Seven Sacred Pools".

Linda and I were the only ones in our group to swim in them.........

We got Ken to go with us for our late night walk around the hotel grounds.

This flamingo decided to do a little dance for us......notice the duck?!

Hawaii Day 5

In the morning we had a tour of Haleakala National Park

Peter didn't believe we were at almost 10,000 feet, so we took this picture to prove it.

Here is a picture of Linda taking a picture of Ken taking a picture.......

This was our tour guide Larry.

When he was "on"...he was very animated. This is Larry on a moving bus.

....but this was Larry when he wasn't talking to us.

We had a free afternoon and spent it in the pool.

....the view beyond my toes.

We were on our own for dinner this night.

We took the bus into Lahaina for some shopping and dinner. We found a restaurant with a dining area over the water.

Drinks in Hawaii are very fancy.......

We watched the sun set behind this cruise ship.......
